Apple sauce is a purée made of apples. It can be made with peeled or unpeeled apples. Making apple sauce is very simple and easy to do. It can be made in a variety of ways but I prefer to use my instant pot. It is quick and easy. All you need is apples and cinnamon. But feel free to add other spices if you like. There is no added sugar and it’s not needed because the apples are naturally sweet. You can use any apples you like.
Applesauce has a multitude of uses – both sweet and savory. It can be used as 1-to-1 replacement for oil or melted butter in baked goods – cakes, quick breads, etc. It keeps everything moist and tasty and makes it a bit a lighter.
If you want to eat apple sauce as a snack, side or in smoothies keep the peels on and cook for a little longer.
