This blueberry tart is made with a homemade gluten free pastry crust. The ingredients are pretty basic. I replaced half of the rice flour with millet flour giving it a nutritional boost and buttery flavor. It has a thick crumbly, cookie-like crust, on the outer edges, and the bottom crust under the filling is slightly cake like. The buttery millet crust is filled with slightly sweetened, creamy lemon custard and fresh BC Blueberries. The perfect summer dessert!

Rosewater Strawberry Shortcake
When you think of summer desserts what’s the first one to come to mind? For me, it’s always something with fruits. Today I am sharing with you the classic strawberry shortcake delicately scented with rose water. I make this dessert only when fresh strawberries are plentiful and at their juiciest and you don’t need to sweeten them up.
Minty Fruit Salad
Now, that spring is in full swing I welcome the warm weather with this beautiful fruit salad. It is so simple to prepare that I didn’t even intend for this to become a blog recipe, but it’s so delicious that I knew I had to share it with you guys! This is no ordinary fruit salad. It goes from simple to sublime when tossed with mint, lemon and fresh grape dressing. When you put a spoonful into your mouth, you can taste a combination of different flavors. This makes the salad feel fancy enough to serve to guests for a potluck, picnic, or party. I actually took this fruit salad to a picnic last week and people loved it.
Phirni (Rose Scented Rice pudding)
A thick, creamy and, delicious milk pudding made with ground rice (not rice flour).
Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee
Since its February and love is in the air, I am sharing a recipe that is insanely delicious and perfect for Valentine’s day. It’s a Creme Brulee, a timeless classic consisting of a rich custard base topped with contrasting layer of hard caramel. The custard in this dessert has the advantage of being made ahead, then right before serving the top is caramelized using a kitchen blow torch (or alternately under broiler). It’s a perfect dessert for any special occasion, especially a romantic evening at home.
Happy Indulging!
Flourless Chocolate Orange and Ginger Cake
If like me, you crave bright and fresh flavors in dark winter days, then this cake will give you every reason to smile and lift your mood! Citrus fruits are a great source of mood-elevating vitamin C. Plus, chocolate is a definite cure for cold weather and gray skies. So, I thought to make this orange chocolate cake. To tell the truth I have made this cake a few times, and every time I did it a little different. For a warming twist, I decided to add in some ginger this time. It tasted amazing and exotic!
Caramelized Apples with Pistachio Yogurt Cream
Although I hate to see summer’s gone away, I enjoy the crisp mornings followed by the warm afternoon and cooler nights. It is the season, when apples and other late harvest fruits are ready to be mixed with warming spices then transformed into pretty desserts.
Since my daughter have really started to prefer healthier desserts to those laden with sugar and calories, so I am kinda trying to give healthy twist to traditional recipes. I caramelized apples for our Friday night dessert and served with pistachio yogurt cream. Not only did it taste delicious but baking the apples made the house smell lovely.
