Buckwheat Crêpes with Summer Fruits and Naturally Sweetened Hot Fudge Sauce
Quick and easy gluten free buckwheat crêpes with summer fruit. They’re filling and satisfying, a good source of protein and fiber, contain no added sugar and are dairy and nut-free. Perfect for breakfast, snack and tea time, and will satisfy the palate even of those who are not gluten intolerant.
Besan ka Cheela (Gram Flour Savory Pancake Recipe)
As far as pancakes and crepes go, besan ka cheela is one of my favorites. It’s a high protein, high fibre savory pancake that tastes delicious while being easy to make. You can fill them like a classic wrap, with vegetables, or transform them into a snack by rolling them up and slice into bite-size pieces. They can even be served plain as flatbread with any curry. For a veggie omelet version add any greens or chopped vegetables to the batter. They are really satisfying and can be easily adapted to your tastes.
Buckwheat Zucchini Crepes (No dairy, eggs or oil)
This crepe recipe is a little playful because it uses the unusual combination of buckwheat and zucchini but it is really easy to make. Easier than Roti (north Indian flatbread) and French crepe because you don’t have to puff up or swirl the pan. The recipe is gluten, corn, soy, rice, dairy, eggs, and oil free.
Simple Millet Crepes
Food evokes memories and many a times they give birth to recipes that have resemblance to their origins but modified to dietary restrictions. I got the inspiration for these crepes from my mother’s “sour dough cheelas”. I can hardly contain my excitement to share that this recipe is not only gluten-free, but also dairy-free, egg free, soy free, and nut-free. Just like its name suggests, these crepes are super easy and can be prepared ahead of time. Serve either as an accompaniment to a main dish or for breakfast with chutney or treat them like soft tacos and fill with whatever you like.
Eggless Sorghum Crepes with Stir-fried Banana Blossom
Crepes are popular not only in France but elsewhere in the world where they go by other names and adaptations. India has dosas and cheelas, Russia has blini and Italy has crespelle. Generally, French crepe batter is made from all-purpose flour, eggs, milk, and butter, but I took the liberty to skip all of them and used whole grain gluten free flour and coconut milk instead. This is the perfect egg free, gluten free, dairy free, soy and corn free recipe for a savory and sweet filling.
Eggless Crepes with Honeyed Yogurt and Fresh Fruits
It feels good to know that children are learning to eat healthy in schools. My daughter has taken food and nutrition class and her homework this week was to keep a food journal. She wrote what she ate in the past week and for one day she was challenged to eat as naturally (food without…
