Kids love candy a lot and we should let them enjoy the sweetness and spookiness of this holiday, after all it comes only once a year. But make sure when you send your kids for trick or treating feed them at home so they don’t make candies their dinner. Make it something fun and healthy like this dessert . Yes, desserts can be fairly healthy if they are light and have fresh fruits. This will definitely discourage them to fill up their tummies with Halloween treats.
Fruit custard is the most easiest and delicious and dessert I know from my childhood days. It’s a dessert loaded with fruits and creamy custard sauce. You can make this all year round and everybody will love it. You can add any fruit but it is important that it tastes good in it. Banana, apple, grapes, mango and strawberries work the best.
FRUIT CUSTARD
Ingredients:
3 tbsp custard powder with vanilla flavor
500 ml milk
2 tbsp honey
1/2 cup mango puree
1 banana, sliced
3/4 cup grapes
Few strawberries, diced
1mango, diced
Method:
Mix custard powder in milk and place it on medium heat.
Bring it to a boil. Reduce heat and stir continuously so that it does not scorch.
Continue cooking for 4-5 minutes until it reaches the desired consistency.
Add vanilla extract and honey. Mix and let it cool and cover to prevent skin forming on the custard.
Just before serving add fresh mango puree and mix well.
Add the fruits. Serve.
Note: If you want a thinner custard use only 2 1/2 tbsp.
