Fun Trip To Disneyland and Green Salad with Grapes

by Balvinder. 29 Comments

After coming home from a fun trip of Disneyland and Universal Studios I found my kitchen sink plugged up. I tried clearing it with hot water, baking soda and Drano but nothing helped. Today morning my handyman husband tried plunging and snaking but that also did not work. We could not figure out what could have caused it? Just in one day, I got tired of running to the laundry room for washing dishes and other water needs. My daughter looked at our plight and suggested to cook easy simple meals until the plumber fixes the problem. She even offered to make a salad for the evening.

Did I hear that right?

Yes, I did. She said she was going to make a salad. How lovely!

My daughter watches shows like Cake Boss and Sweet Creations but does not like to cook when I am around. I have heard the magic of Disney works and it did work for my daughter. This trip was planned within a week with another friend’s family. I thought it won’t be crowded during this time but it was ridiculously crowded at both places.

Who says Disney is just for Kids?

The charm and appeal of Disney can amaze from kids to grandparents. We would arrive in the park early and left late to get the most of our visit and that too with speed passes. I am scared of heights and fast rides so I missed the most popular Space Mountain and California Screaming which the kids took it two times and were beaming with excitement.

At Universal Studios also, we picked up the front of line tickets which are expensive but did provide us with VIP entry to see everything in a short span of time. It was an awesome experience watching the special effects and water world shows. The stunts were excellent and it felt like the movie came alive on stage. The tram tour took us to several attractions of Universal Studios. I liked everything about it.

So now here goes my daughter’s recipe for the salad.  There would be millions of ways to make a salad but this is made by my daughter, so it is special to me. She did not want me to post it. But I loved every bit and was so proud of it.

GREEN SALAD WITH GRAPES

Ingredients:

1 box (150 gm) of Italian salad mix

1 cup red seedless grapes

Honey Mustard dressing

1 tbsp mayo

2 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp Dijon

1 tbsp honey

1 1/2 tbsp lemon juice

salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method:

Whisk dressing ingredients in a small bowl. Put salad leaves and grapes in glass bowl. Pour the dressing over it.

Toss gently. Serve immediately as a side to any meat or vegetable dish. We had it with salmon.

The sharp taste of Dijon gave a great little kick to the salad dressing.

I am quite pleased with two bloggers who gave me Liebster blog award.

Am I really dearest to them?

Just joking, I thank both of you from the bottom of my heart.

First one was given to me by Choc chip Uru who has an obsession for sweet things. I am amazed at her baking skills at this young age. Her posts are really addictive as much as her dessert recipes.

Second Liebster award was given to me by The Dutch Door Kitchen. She is a passionate food blogger with heart healthy recipes and indulging desserts. Just check on their blog for something of your interest.

I am sharing this award with two of my blogger friends whose blogs are becoming dearest to me. I hope you will enjoy visiting their blogs ,too.

If I ask my daughter to do something she will not listen. That’s why I was surprised when she offered to help as if I was the only one who is going to eat.

Hi Balvinder, We took a trip to Disney the last week of November, (when it’s supposed to be least crowded), and I thought it was plenty crowded! I LOVED the food there and all the great restaurants. So glad your family had a great vacation there! And the salad looks awesome – your daughter did a great job!

Sorry to hear about your sink. I hope it gets fixed soon. How nice of your daughter to pitch in and help with the meal. Most of all though it looks like you had a great time at Disneyland. When we would take our kids I’m not really sure who had a better time, they or my husband and I.

Congrats on the blog award, Balvinder! What lovely pictures you’ve shared from your time at Disney and Universal, there’s no age limit to having fun 😉 Sorry to hear about the sink though. That must’ve been frustrating to come home to. But, I’m glad your daughter whipped up this amazing salad and she sure does have a flair for throwing things together…signs of a great cook, even if she has no real interest in it now 😀
