Yogurt is one food which is relished ‘sweet or salty’ by many of us. It is very nutritious and is the best natural probiotic. In Indian households yogurt is often served plain or as raita to team with curries and stir-fries. Apart from the usual, there are several other interesting ways to eat this dairy wonder, Like this mint yogurt dip. I love serving this dip with a fresh platter of crudités or fritters but you can dip pita, crackers or whatever your heart desires.
This healthier, low fat, thick and creamy dip is super simple and so delicious. This is hardly a recipe and there is absolutely, one hundred percent no need to be exact with the measurements. All you need to do is to get Greek yogurt, add finely shredded herb of your choice – in this case, mint, a splash of lemon juice, flaky sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. You could totally throw garlic and add some olive oil as well but I make this one without( I am a huge fan of garlic, though). The fresh mint make this dip flavorful and plain Greek yogurt base, instead of mayonnaise or sour cream, makes it good for you. It has just the right amount of tang, full of healthy protein and gut nourishing probiotics. If you are using homemade yogurt instead of Greek, you just need to strain through a cheese cloth to get rid of excess water and make it thicker. You can check my Millet Berry Shreekhand post to see the process of making thick or hung yogurt.
This is a great summertime dip to whip up for those last minute guests that stop by or for a quick snack anytime of the day.
