Hi Everybody,
How have you all been?
I am sorry to disappear on you like this over the past few weeks. I have had a lot of things going on in family and at work. All positive, although time consuming. I did not even do much cooking at home and the healthy eating pattern got ignored. So I am regaining balance in my routine with this all natural turmeric smoothie. It not only comes with anti-inflammatory properties but it is also delicious.
Smoothies are my favorite mid-day snack and I love making all different variations of them. They are like clean slate, easy to switch up ingredients depending on your mood, hunger requirements and nutrition levels. They are an ideal option for pre and post workout snacks too.
Probiotic and nutrient rich milk kefir make the base of this smoothie. It gives the smoothie a dense and slightly acidic flavor. But the addition of mango sweetens it up, while the turmeric, ginger and black pepper boosts the nutrition and adds the kick. I love adding the savory touch of turmeric and ginger in my smoothies. Trust me, they taste really good and blends very well with the slightly sweet tart smoothie. They both offer plenty of health benefits and are well known to contain anti-oxidant compounds that protect our body from free radical damage. It is a term used to describe unstable molecules within our body’s cells.
Black pepper is good on its own, with antibacterial properties. However, here it comes handy in increasing the absorption of turmeric. Finally there’s a tea spoonful of chia seeds. This tiny superfood serves two purposes : first it provides protein and a decent amount of healthy fatty acids. Second, it works as a thickener. So, overall the smoothie packs a powerful punch whether you’re looking to detox, boost your immune system, or add a delicious, drink to your repertoire.
I hope you guys try this smoothie and come back to leave a comment below with your feedback
With all goodness of kefir, turmeric, ginger, chia seeds combined with delicious mango this is one amazing smoothie to give you a boost of energy for the day.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup mango chunks
- 1 1/2 cup milk kefir (I used blueberry milk kefir)
- 2 heaped tsp fresh grated turmeric or 1 1/2 tsp tsp turmeric powder
- 1 1/2 tsp fresh grated ginger
- 1/8 tsp (+) black pepper powder
- 1 tsp. chia seeds soaked in 1/3 cup water for 1/2 hour
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
Notes
A little turmeric and ginger goes a long way, so if you’re not used to using these, start off with less and add more as your taste buds adjust.
Vegans can replace milk kefir with coconut water kefir and add more fruit or chia for thickness. I once got coconut kefir from United States but haven't seen here in Richmond or Vancouver.
I am taking this smoothie to Corina’s linky party at Searchingofspice and also to Jacqui’s @ CookBlogShare.

Wow Balvinder the color on this smoothie is stunning and so full of nutrition! I just printed this off and will try it this week. I have all the ingredients on hand except for the kefir. I’m surprised using blueberry that it still came out this color. Looks amazing!

Thank you, Vicki! It doesn’t have that many blueberries. I have a picture of this Kefir bottle in my cacao smoothie.
